In our country there is need for new models and new initiatives for the education, rehabilitation and vocational education of people with intellectual disability to prepare them for employment, as well as helping them to lead their lives in an independent way, while enhancing their integration and quality of life. These initiatives and models should encompass such objectives as “To break the prejudice of society towards people with intellectual disability ”, and “To create a new society that is sensitive to people with intellectual disability ’s needs and expectations.”
Considering the needs of people with intellectual disability mentioned above, the aims of this Project are that graduates of the School of Physical Education and Sport will use their internship to study the free-time activities of people with intellectual disability in Sweden and Slovenia, and they will take an active role in building a similar structure which will enhance the quality of life for people with intellectual disability . Consequently, the aim is to increase the facilities which will enable people with intellectual disability to make use of their spare time in our region. The mobility action is implemented with the participation of 10 graduates, with 5 from each country, between 2 September 2007 and 15 November 2007 in Sweden at Lund KULTUR-OCH FRIDITSFORVALTNINGEN and in Slovenia at Ljubljana Zavod za usposabljanje Janeza Levca.
